Note from the editor:

Dr. Ranasinghé  still spends much of his time interacting with US and Overseas MNC’s, overseas governments and various overseas universities. Unfortunately in March 2014 he had the third of a rather debilitating sequence of medical imbroglios… a sudden, unexpected, debilitating recurrence of a prior significant illness. Whilst he continues to look forward to being invited to travel to speak, and to present position papers, in the USA and overseas, the international travel he is asked to undertake each year now requires forward planning. This has constrained him from his normal pattern of just taking off at a moment’s notice travelling on extended trips. Before the latest incident he spent more than a month over several trips in Canada, and in the USA, was conducting doctoral colloquium classes for several groups/universities.

About Dr. Ranasinghé

Dr. Kamal Ranasinghé completed British baccalaureate-level studies (English and Politics, Philosophy and Economics)…. earned a Masters’ degrees (International Relations/Political Science) and a further Post Graduate Diploma (Political Science.) while in England. He then earned two doctorates (the first in Human Behaviour- a Ph.D. and the second in International Business – D.B.A.)…

Aside from having been Dean at a fully regionally accredited US University , today he teaches at various universities in America, continues to be actively involved – as a Distinguished Visiting Professor and Faculty Scholar (and as Consultant to the Chairperson of the Boards) of American, Canadian, British, European and S. E. Asian Universities .

He has been Chairman – since its simultaneous inception in Europe and Southern California in 1980 – of a consortium of academics This is a global consortium of academics involved in the establishment of educational linkages between accredited institutions in Britain, Canada and in the United States – with (appropriate) fraternal institutions overseas.

He is also Chairman of a Privately held, closely-controlled, global consultancy working with Federal/state and private organisations to provide Strategic country Risk Analyses, overseas governmental introductions, Business to business Senior Executive introductions/ complex Global projects including international business unit expansion.

Dr. Ranasinghé is also the Principal of Global Executives Training & Development Association ( GETDA) an American Non-Profit entity…a global organization expressly supporting the qualification-accruing development of international executives around the world. GETDA clients are Executives of all nationalities and industries from small to Multi National Corporations (MNCs), Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), Trade organizations, Government Agencies, Academic Institutions and their students, and globally-inclined individuals.

He is regularly embarked upon international tasks for North American, European, Middle Eastern, and S. E. Asian, and both Francophone and Anglophone Africa academia/academic entities.

At the largest Private, fully-regionally-accredited, University in the United States of America, Dr. Ranasinghé has been named a “distinguished faculty” person and a “ distinguished faculty Scholar” . He has been the “Faculty person of the Year” – selected by students and/pt faculty peers – four times. At that institution his charge has included being the overall Content Area Chair for Strategy for the Doctoral Programmes, and being on the Academic Programme Council for the Doctoral programmes at the School of Advanced studies. Apart from teaching Doctoral courses he also developed and wrote the curricula and syllabi for some of the final year doctoral courses and continues to be on many Doctoral dissertation committees.

Aside from his on-going graduate teaching, since Jan 2010 to date he has presented and led Monthly Workshops on Global leadership/Management issues in Southern California.

Over the last 2 – 3 years his scholarship endeavour included being the principal peer reviewer for journal articles (among others) on:

• Conducting Strategic Political Risk Analysis for Global environments
• The debilitating effect of U.S. Education on Global Business
• The impact of U.S. Early Childhood Education upon American Global Business
• The Significance of current Higher Education circumstances in Afghanistan

During the last 2 – 3 years he conducted:

– Training for the Executive Board, President and Senior Staff of a Government approved Mexican Educational Entity…focusing on taking US and British Degrees to their Govt. Approved Universities

– In addition he was the Principal speaker/trainer at a closely-controlled retreat/conference, held in California, for the Presidents & Senior Staff of several Afghan Universities. The theme was best Practices when incorporating US Graduate Degrees into Afghan Min of H.E. Govt Approved Afghan Universities. This was in response to Afghan Govt Demand for Grad Degree Programmes in country.

On several occasions he has been the plenary speaker on “Global issues and conducting business overseas” at a Seminar given for Southern California entrepreneurs and organizations

His professional background includes significant experience – spanning 40 years – as a senior international director for various global Organizations. He has an acknowledged, in-depth professional familiarity with the methods and purposes of development, and enhancement, of strategic efforts on behalf of European and North American institutions, and state and federal entities.

From the early 1980’s to date, he has always been charged – as a Board-level Director – with ensuring that the largesse available via special international outreach efforts accrued to certain British and North American academic entities

Dr. Ranasinghé speaks several languages fluently.

Dr. Ranasinghe’s specific personal academic expertise is in the discipline fields of International Business, Strategy, Human Behavior, Leadership and International Relations at the Bachelors, Masters and Doctoral Degree Levels.

At University of Phoenix – where he is honoured to be a “distinguished faculty” person and a “distinguished faculty Scholar” – his charge has included being the Content Area Chair for Strategy for UoP Doctoral Programmes… and being on the Academic Programme Council for the Doctoral programmes at UoP’s School of Advanced studies in Phoenix, AZ. Apart from teaching Doctoral courses he has additionally developed some of the final year doctoral courses and continues to be on many doctoral dissertation committees. He has participated in meetings which address the global component in the doctoral classes.

As regards professional endeavour… a few years ago he completed an almost-two-year tenure as founding Executive Director of a Southern European Governments’ Council on Development & Trade – a national, charitable, entity established with the assistance and approbation of the European Union and the U.S. Authorities. The Council was expressly intended to create strong developmental, educational and trade liaisons between Southern and Eastern Europe… with 28 nations of Asia.

His professional background includes significant experience – spanning almost 40 years – as a senior international director for various global organizations.

He is a Principal Consultant and advisor to:

– The Chairman/Board of a Canadian University
– The Directors of a UAE Based University Operation
– A S. E. Asian Investment group in their purchase negotiations (ongoing as of July 2014) of two niche-market US insurance firms

He consults with various European, Middle Eastern and S.E. Asian firms… and to a Canadian VC/investment entity in their current round of acquisitions. He is also working with two new clients… government-backed entities from Eastern Europe and the PRC. All are interested in creating mutually-beneficial links in the United States.
